Why we prefer adding Ceramic Coating Protection in our cars

Every car we import arrives after roughly 2.5 months at sea, and we will not hand it over until it looks its best. Ceramic coating is how we lock in that condition for the Cyprus climate rather than letting it fade in the first summer. Here is why we make it standard.

Why does a Japanese import need ceramic coating in Cyprus?

A Japanese import arrives with young, well-kept paint, and Cyprus is unusually harsh on it. Intense Mediterranean sun, dust and heat oxidise unprotected paint far faster than Japan's milder climate. Ceramic coating seals that fresh surface before the sun reaches it. Because the coating is effectively permanent, whatever condition the paint is in when we coat it gets locked in for years.

The point of coating early is timing. A car that has barely been driven still has near-factory paint, so we are protecting it at its best rather than trying to rescue it later.

That is also why we coat only after our five-day arrival inspection and a full inside-out detail. The surface is cleaned and polished first, so nothing unwanted is sealed underneath.

How long does ceramic coating actually last?

Ceramic coatings are typically rated for multiple years of protection, with the exact lifespan depending on the product grade applied. We offer a range of coating tiers, including longer-life and specialist options, depending on the car and how it will be used. The right choice depends on your ownership plan, so we match the coating grade to how long you intend to keep the car.

A standard-grade coating suits most buyers comfortably and outlasts anything a wax can offer. If you are buying a car to hold for a decade, the longer-life options make more sense.

Does ceramic coating protect against the Mediterranean sun?

Yes, this is one of its main jobs in Cyprus. The coating contains advanced UV inhibitors that block the sun's rays before they can oxidise and dull the paint. On an island where unprotected finishes fade and chalk within a few summers, that barrier keeps freshly polished paint looking vibrant for years. It is the difference between a car that still shines and one that has gone flat.

UV damage is slow and easy to ignore until it is permanent. By the time paint looks tired, oxidation has usually set into the clear coat.

Sealing the surface up front is far cheaper than a respray later. For a low-mileage import, it also protects the resale value that the low mileage earned.

Will it stop bird droppings, sap and water spots?

It resists all three. The coating is hydrophobic, so water beads up and rolls straight off, carrying dust and dirt with it for a near self-cleaning effect. The same slick, chemically resistant surface stops bird droppings, tree sap and bug splatter from bonding to the paint. They wipe away instead of etching in, which keeps washing quick and the finish unmarked.

Bird droppings are acidic and can burn into unprotected clear coat within hours in the heat. On a coated surface they sit on top rather than eating in.

The self-cleaning effect is not a gimmick either. Rain does much of the work, and a rinse handles the rest, so the car spends less time dirty.

Is ceramic coating better than traditional wax?

For Cyprus, clearly yes. Traditional waxes melt away in the local heat within a matter of weeks, so you are constantly reapplying just to stand still. Ceramic coating bonds to the paint and holds for years, giving stronger UV, chemical and water protection from a single application. For a freshly imported, low-mileage car, that durability is what actually preserves the finish.

Wax was designed for milder, wetter climates and short intervals between coats. In a Cyprus summer it simply does not last.
